As an anime fan, the thrill of attending an anime convention is akin to entering a different universe, one where the vibrant worlds of our favorite shows and characters come to life. It's a kaleidoscope of colors, sounds, and energy, where every corner offers a new surprise. The convention is a sensory overload in the best way.
But, sometimes trying to choose which convention to attend or sell your wares at can be agonizing and confusing because you’re drowning in choices. That’s why we’ve compiled this list of the largest and most popular cons by region. Ohayocon 2024

Anime Milwaukee 2024
Anime Milwaukee (AMKE) is a three-day anime convention held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center and Baird Center. It significantly contributes to the local economy with an estimated impact of $3.1 million. The convention celebrates and educates fans about anime, manga, Asian culture, music, and gaming. Originating from a college anime club meeting, AMKE has since grown and thrived.
Anime Central 2024
Anime Central (ACen) is the largest anime, manga, and Japanese popular culture convention in Chicago and the Midwest. Organized by the Midwest Animation Promotion Society (MAPS), a non-profit organization, ACen features a vast exhibit hall, video game room, concerts, dances, educational panels, workshops, screenings, autograph sessions, and 24-hour video rooms. It offers a platform for fans to connect with industry guests from Japan and the U.S. in anime, manga, gaming, cinema, and Asian culture. The convention is known for its inclusive and diverse programming, including a Masquerade event for cosplayers
Anime NYC
Anime NYC is a convention showcasing the best of Japanese pop culture in New York City. It's an event that brings together anime fans for three days filled with unique exhibits, exclusive screenings, and appearances by some of Japan's most prominent creators. Scheduled for August 23-25, 2024, at the Javits Convention Center, Anime NYC is organized by LeftField Media with support from Crunchyroll and other publishers in the Japanese pop culture industry
Katsucon 2024
Katsucon is an annual 3-day fan convention held in the D.C. metro area, focusing on multicultural enthusiasts and entertainment. It is organized by Katsucon Entertainment, Inc. (KEI), an educational group committed to sharing knowledge about Japanese animation, society, and both traditional and popular culture with fans globally
Anime Boston 2024
Anime Boston, an annual three-day convention in Boston, Massachusetts, is overseen by the New England Anime Society and celebrates Japanese animation, comics, and pop-culture. While primarily focusing on Japanese animation and comics, Anime Boston has evolved to include broader aspects of Japanese pop culture like J-Pop, J-Rock, live-action media, and traditional culture. Remarkably organized by over 350 dedicated volunteers, the convention has seen a significant increase in attendance, from 4,000 members in 2003 to over 22,000 by 2012. MomoCon
MomoCon is a dynamic fan convention based in Atlanta, celebrating animation, gaming, comics, and costuming. Originating from Anime O-Tekku, Georgia Tech’s anime club, it first took place in 2005, attracting over 700 attendees. Over the years, MomoCon has experienced rapid growth, reaching over 10,000 attendees by 2011 and over 48,000 in 2023. The convention features a diverse array of events, including gaming, celebrity appearances, and unique activities like a rave and martial arts programming. It's known for its friendly Southern hospitality and has evolved into a significant event at the Georgia World Congress Center, offering a wide range of experiences for fans of all ages. MomoCon is set to return in May 2024.
Anime Matsuri
Anime Matsuri is an annual four-day anime convention held in Houston, Texas, at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Starting in 2007, it has become a significant event celebrating anime and Japanese culture. The convention includes a wide range of activities such as an artist alley, car show, celebrity appearances, cosplay contests, fashion shows, gaming events, karaoke, LARP, live concerts, maid cafe, panels, a vendor area, and workshops. A-Kon
